Wear closed-toe shoes (sneakers or jazz shoes) and clothes for comfortable movement
You do NOT need to attend a workshop to audition.

Doors will not be open before 8:30. We will begin auditions at 9:00, OR once all auditioners are checked in. Bring water, snacks, and patience!
Please prepare a Broadway song, preferably from a similarly styled show, that showcases your range.* Provide a music-only backup track (karaoke/no vocals), downloaded on your device (we have connectors). Wear clothes for comfortable movement and closed-toe shoes (sneakers or jazz shoes). You may bring a photo/headshot and/or resume, but these are not required.
*UPDATED 7/15: Annie hopefuls should prepare an audition song and be familiar with “Tomorrow” and “Maybe”.
Video submissions will be accepted until 11:59 pm on Friday, August 7, for those unable to attend. Please contact Erin at itartisticdirector@gmail.com with questions. Submissions may be sent to the same email.
Callbacks:
Sunday, August 9, 1:00 - 4:00 pm
Check-in: 12:30 - 1:00 pm
The director will announce and send callback details during/after auditions on Saturday. Please do not plan for Sunday to be your initial audition day unless you have made prior arrangements with the director.
Rehearsals will be held on weekday evenings and on weekends. A detailed schedule will be provided at auditions. Be prepared to list any conflicts you may have between audition day and opening week.
Performances will be on Friday evenings and Saturday and Sunday afternoons from November 28 - December 20. Please note that final rehearsals are mandatory through Tuesday, November 24, and the show opens on Saturday, November 28, to accommodate the Thanksgiving holiday.

Annie
Character Gender: Female
Character Age: 10–12
Vocal Range: A3–G5
Dance/Movement: Intermediate movement; confident dancer preferred, but storytelling and stage presence are most important.
A bright, optimistic orphan who refuses to give up hope that her parents will return. Annie is courageous, compassionate, resourceful, and a natural leader. This demanding role requires an excellent young singer with emotional depth, clear diction, and the stamina to carry the show.
Oliver "Daddy" Warbucks
Character Gender: Male
Character Age: 40s–60s
Vocal Range: B2–G4
Dance/Movement: Minimal dance; comfortable with stage movement.
A wealthy industrialist whose heart is transformed by Annie. Initially stern and businesslike, he gradually reveals warmth, humor, and vulnerability. Requires a commanding presence and strong acting ability.
Grace Farrell
Character Gender: Female
Character Age: 20s–40s
Vocal Range: B3–E5
Dance/Movement: Basic to intermediate movement.
Warbucks' capable and compassionate secretary. Grace is elegant, intelligent, nurturing, and serves as a bridge between Annie and Warbucks.
Miss Hannigan

Dance/Movement: Intermediate movement; strong physical comedy more important than advanced dance.
The frazzled matron of the Municipal Orphanage. Bitter, sarcastic, and hilariously over-the-top, Miss Hannigan is one of musical theatre's iconic comic roles. Looking for a fearless performer with excellent comic instincts and strong character vocals.
Rooster Hannigan

Rooster's glamorous girlfriend who dreams of sophistication but happily joins in his scams. A fun, comedic role with opportunities for personality and style.

The youngest orphan. Sweet, innocent, affectionate, and often looking to Annie for reassurance.

Duffy

The oldest orphan. Responsible, practical, and protective of the younger children.
Sandy
Character Gender: Any
Character Age: Child
Vocal Range: None (non-singing role unless also cast in ensemble)
Dance/Movement: Strong movement skills required. Experience in puppetry, physical theater, dance, mime, or character movement is a plus.
Annie's loyal canine companion and constant source of comfort and hope. Rather than using a live dog, Sandy will be brought to life by a performer through puppetry, facial expressions, and/or stylized movement. The actor playing Sandy should be expressive, physically aware, and able to communicate emotion without spoken dialogue. Sandy appears throughout the production, building a relationship with Annie through movement, playfulness, curiosity, and unwavering loyalty. Depending on casting and production design, the performer may also appear as an ensemble member in scenes where Sandy is not onstage.
President Franklin D. Roosevelt

Warm, reassuring, and presidential. Featured speaking role with singing in the finale.

Warbucks' dignified English butler. Polished, loyal, and quietly humorous.
Mrs. Greer

The efficient and caring head housekeeper.
Star-to-Be

New Yorkers, Hooverville residents, servants, radio performers, tourists, government officials, and party guests. Ensemble members may play multiple roles.
Youth Ensemble

Dance/Movement: All experience levels encouraged to audition.
Youth ensemble members may portray newsboys, street vendors, messenger children, radio performers, party guests, and neighborhood children.
There are many featured singing, dancing, and speaking roles within this production that will showcase ensemble performers of varying ages and abilities!
Roles may be portrayed by actors of any gender; however, character genders must stay as written.
Show Synopsis:
With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie charms everyone's hearts despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. She is determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City Orphanage that is run by the cruel, embittered Miss Hannigan. With the help of the other girls in the Orphanage, Annie escapes to the wondrous world of NYC. In adventure after fun-filled adventure, Annie foils Miss Hannigan's evil machinations... and even befriends President Franklin Delano Roosevelt! She finds a new home and family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary, Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy.
