Policies & Participation Guidelines
Creating a Safe, Respectful, and Professional Theater Community
Imagination Theater is built on collaboration, creativity, and mutual respect. To ensure a positive experience for every cast member, volunteer, staff member, and guest, all participants are expected to follow the guidelines below.
These policies apply to all productions and events, including cast, crew, designers, assistants, board members, and volunteers.
Code of Conduct

All participants must:
Treat safety, health, and personal well-being as a top priority.
Be respectful in attitude, behavior, and communication.
Come prepared and ready to contribute their best effort.
Care for the theater’s facilities, equipment, and resources.
Follow all production-specific instructions from directors and stage managers.
Grievances should follow the procedure outlined in the Policies & Procedure Manual. Please speak first with your director, stage manager, or house manager.

Report all accidents or injuries immediately to the stage manager or director.
Follow all posted safety guidelines and backstage protocols.
Do not attend rehearsal or performances if you are ill.
Running, roughhousing, or unsafe behavior backstage is not permitted.
Alcohol, smoking, vaping, marijuana, or illegal drugs are prohibited on theater property.

Respect the direction of the production team at all times.
Directors, choreographers, music directors, and stage managers have final authority during rehearsals and performances.
Arrive prepared and on time.
Bullying, harassment, or discriminatory behavior will not be tolerated.
Excessive disruptions or repeated rule violations may result in removal from the production.

Be present at all scheduled rehearsals and performances unless previously approved.
Notify the director or stage manager as soon as possible in case of illness or emergency.
Performers must be present for all tech rehearsals and show dates.
Minors must leave with an authorized adult.

Clean up after yourself in dressing rooms, rehearsal spaces, and common areas.
Food and drink should be limited and stored appropriately.
Costumes, props, lighting, and sound equipment are to be handled only with permission.
Follow instructions regarding backstage access and restricted areas.

Silence and store cell phones during rehearsals and performances.
Devices may not be used backstage unless approved by stage management.
Keep backstage conversation to a minimum during performances.

Announce yourself before entering.
Respect privacy and personal property.
Keep areas clean and organized.
No horseplay or inappropriate behavior.

Participants are expected to:
Use assigned props only.
Return props and costume pieces to their designated storage areas.
Immediately report lost or damaged items.
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards while using shared items.

Arrive at call time for warm-ups and preparation.
Remain backstage unless called.
No ad-libbing or script changes without director approval.
Maintain focus and professionalism from call time through curtain.
Dress Code & Appearance Guidelines

Closed-toe shoes must be worn at all times (no sandals or bare feet).
Clothing should be practical and appropriate for rehearsal activity.
Avoid wearing valuable jewelry or personal items.

Clothing or accessories may not display language or imagery that conflicts with our Mission or DEI values.
Directors or stage managers may require changes to attire, hair, or accessories for safety or production needs.

Backstage crew must wear provided or approved black crew shirts.
Front-of-house volunteers should wear designated theater attire or vests.

Cast members must wear assigned costumes as directed.
Personal costume concerns must be addressed at least two weeks before opening night.
Costumes should be properly cared for and not altered without approval.
Only water is permitted while in costume unless otherwise approved.
Policy Acknowledgment
Participation in Imagination Theater productions indicates agreement to follow these policies. Failure to comply may result in removal from a production or restriction from future participation.
